Vehicle Retrofit: An Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Solution for Internal Combustion Vehicles
Converting an internal combustion vehicle to electric (retrofit) is an innovative approach to reducing CO₂ emissions in the transportation sector. The benefits are numerous: retrofitting extends the lifespan of existing vehicles and aligns with a sustainable mindset, especially in a society increasingly focused on repair and recycling. This represents a clear economic advantage, coupled with a significant environmental gain. From an industrial standpoint, retrofitting reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 56% compared to manufacturing a new vehicle (source: ADEME).
XAP offers a comprehensive technical solution that brings together expertise in computing, control electronics, power electronics, electromagnetism, and advanced control systems, synthesizing both know-how and production capabilities.
With the growing development of vehicle retrofitting, we have faced a number of technical and operational challenges. One of the major issues is technical compatibility, as we are integrating an entirely new electric system into a vehicle originally designed for a combustion engine. Installing batteries and their management systems also affects the vehicle’s overall weight and axle load distribution, which led us to rethink the entire setup to maintain both balance and safety.
This development comes at a significant cost: sourcing high-quality components and employing qualified personnel is essential to comply with the standards and regulations applied to electric vehicles.
Despite these challenges, we have successfully developed a complete and reliable retrofit system. Our standardized kits are designed to be adaptable to a variety of vehicle models. In most cases, we preserve the original transmission elements and mechanical gearboxes, as well as the braking systems.
Our entire team is trained and certified to carry out every aspect of the conversion process. To support this, we’ve created our own training center, and several of our staff are authorized to train and certify technicians—whether they are kit distributors or individuals seeking certification in retrofit practices.
Our Retrofit Kit Includes:
An electric motor, replacing the original combustion engine
One or more battery packs
A power inverter
A Battery Management System (BMS)
An onboard charger compatible with both standard electrical outlets and dedicated charging stations
A cooling system
A control interface and configuration software (including display, power distribution system, and sensors)

Mobile charging solutions
Always Ready, Always Charged — with XAP’s Mobile Charging Solutions
The market for mobile top-up charging isn’t huge, but in the context of sporting events (such as the Tour de France), automotive or aviation rallies, or cultural events, organizers and public authorities are increasingly looking for temporary, mobile solutions that require no costly infrastructure. Additional use cases include military or civil security operations, where units need access to electric equipment in remote or undeveloped areas — something that’s currently difficult to achieve.
To meet this demand, we have designed and manufactured a mobile fast-charging system for electric and hybrid vehicles. It is the first itinerant electric charging semi-trailer capable of delivering fast charging (22 kW) to up to 20 vehicles simultaneously.
This mobile charging trailer, fully equipped with the necessary infrastructure, can recharge up to 20 vehicles at once — ideal for stage races, rallies, or large-scale events.
Our power generation systems operate using engines fueled with B100 biofuel, addressing today’s environmental challenges. B100 is a biodiesel that complies with the EN14214 standard, compatible with diesel engines. It offers the advantage of directly replacing diesel fuel, while remaining miscible and reversible — a key benefit when operating in regions where B100 supply may be limited.
The charging semi-trailer can be deployed to support logistics for large gatherings or outdoor cultural events, offering both a temporary charging point and a mobile power boost. It’s also ideal for mobile operations, following itinerant events by providing a removable and easily deployable charging station. These mobile charging units (also referred to as nomadic chargers or portable EV chargers) are highly practical as they require no permanent installation — just plug them into a suitable outlet. Their adjustable power output makes them compatible with all electric vehicles equipped with a Type 2 charging connector.
To complement the semi-trailer, we also offer a 4-wheel-drive truck capable of recharging two to three light vehicles. This solution is better suited for hard-to-reach locations, providing critical assistance in remote or rugged environments.

XAP Simulators: Virtual Training, Real Performance
For over 15 years, XAP has been designing high-performance steering wheels used in the world’s most demanding racing championships (F2, F3, Formula E, LMP3…). Building on this expertise, we have developed a range of racing simulators that combine precision, realism, and reliability, offering both professional drivers and racing enthusiasts a fully immersive simulation experience.
Our simulators are compatible with the leading sim racing titles, including Assetto Corsa, rFactor 1 & 2, and iRacing. Thanks to our XAP Simulator 1.5 software, our steering wheels are recognized as high-precision control devices and can be integrated into full simulator setups, featuring a high-tech steering wheel, a dashboard with TFT display and LEDs, and analog inputs for connecting a handbrake, throttle, or other controls.
Our simulation steering wheels are designed to meet the same rigorous standards as those used in actual competition. They feature advanced force feedback (version 1.6) for realistic sensations, contactless technology (Hall effect sensors) for maximum durability, and are fully customizable: button layout, paddles, rotary switches, and mounting compatibility with steering hubs such as Sadev, SPA Design, or Momo. They operate via USB and CAN connections, ensuring seamless integration with various ECUs and racing hardware.
